Taking Screenshots

Taking Screenshots

Create eye-catching images of your builds

🏃‍♂️ Quick Overview

  1. Press F1 to hide the game’s interface, then press F2 to take a screenshot.
  2. Locate the saved screenshots in the minecraft/screenshots folder on your computer
  3. Drag-and-drop to add the screenshots to your projects on Ender

🔢 Step-By-Step Instructions

STEP 1: CAPTURE SCREENSHOTS IN-GAME

Position your character so that you’ve got the best view of your build. Press the F1 key near the top of your keyboard to hide the interface so that your hearts, items, etc. don’t get in the way of your shot.

With the interface turned off, press the F2 key to save a screenshot. To confirm that one was taken, re-enable your interface by pressing F1 again, which will allow you to see a confirmation in the chat box.

Take as many screenshots as you want from a variety of angles. This will help our judges see all the details of your build!

STEP 2: LOCATE THE SCREENSHOTS ON YOUR COMPUTER

Your screenshots are saved in the Minecraft folder on your computer. The location of that folder may be different depending on what sort of computer you have:

  • Windows: Screenshots are saved in %appdata%/.minecraft/screenshots/
  • Mac: Screenshots are saved in ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/screenshots

Open your computer’s file browser. On Windows this is called the File Explorer and on Mac it is called the Finder. Copy whichever of the two paths above matches the type of computer you have, and then paste it into the address bar to open the screenshots folder.

STEP 3: UPLOAD YOUR SCREENSHOTS TO ENDER

Go to the Ender website, find the competition that your build was created for, and click the “Submit” button to open the project page.

Click on the empty frame on the right to find the screenshots on your computer, or if you already have the file browser open from the last step you can just drag-and-drop your screenshots to upload them.

Fill in the remaining details, like your project’s title and description, and when everything is complete hit the “Submit” button to finalize your entry. That’s it! 🎉
